Hi everyone. I want to apologize for the lateness of this month’s review. To make a long story short my computer was been acting up and nobody, not even the trusted Apple experts I’ve been consulting with for years, could figure out why. Needless to say creating movie reviews consistently is difficult when your main tool for viewing and writing keeps shutting down and resisting reboots for no apparent reason. I can say this, however, it will be done before the month is out. At the very latest, though I doubt it, you may end up getting two reviews in a row. And don’t worry, I’m not gonna make you wait any longer to see what this month’s movie is. By a near overwhelming majority, your August movie review is…
Now seeing as how immigration and reuniting children with families plays a big part of An American Tail and is quite a hot topic nowadays, I’d like to take the opportunity to announce the return of Charity Vote Bonuses! For all this month, anyone who donates even as little as one dollar to Border Charities, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, or The Young Center For Immigrant Children’s Rights, all wonderful charities that provide aid to immigrants looking for a life free from hardship and prejudice, will be rewarded with the following:
- $1 or more will get an extra vote for what they want to see reviewed in September.
- $5 or more and I’ll add a movie of your choice to the Shelf plus previous perks.
- $10 or more and I’ll send you a print of one of my movie-themed artworks from my Etsy store as a way of saying thanks! (Did I mention I have an Etsy store? Because I do!)
- $20 or more gives you all the previous perks AND a fully written movie review of the film of your choice from The Shelf!
Simply forward the email confirming your donation to upontheshelfshow@gmail.com along with any necessary info. Donations are not mandatory but I encourage them considering the good they will do to families that really need them right now.
And now the moment you’ve been waiting for, the movies up for review this September:
- The Pirate
- A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
- The Music Man
- Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
- Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events
As always, thanks for reading and if you feel like supporting this blog please consider becoming one of my Patreon patrons. Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Oooh, you have an Etsy? Can you link me up?

Awesome thanks.
Though, I donated to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, but I haven’t gotten an email about the confirmation. What do I do?

If you don’t receive an email, maybe try taking a picture or screen cap of the site and send it over.

Then again, they usually do send confirmation emails so it might come in a little bit.
